The Tomb of Queen Meresankh III is one of most beautiful and elaborately decorated tombs on the Giza Plateau. It dates to the Old Kingdom of ancient egypt and original pyramid builders. Queen Meresankh was one of the wives of the Pharaoh Khafre, son of the builder of the Great Pyramid, Khufu, and who built the second largest pyramid at Giza. Interestingly, the pharaoh isn’t imaged anywhere in the tomb–rather, Meresankh is depicted with her mother Queen Hetepheres II often through the sculptures in the tomb and the paintings on the tomb walls.
